CandBerrol: A Success Story of Science and Business Collaboration

The conference “Scientific Research Projects Tailored to the Industry – Experiences and Opportunities for Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector,” organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, brought together leading experts from academia and the pharmaceutical industry to strengthen collaboration and explore new opportunities for innovation and market growth. The event featured key stakeholders, including major pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, highlighting the importance of bridging scientific research and industry needs.

As an actively engaged pharmaceutical company, Phytonet stood out with its contributions to multiple research projects. Bojan Pavlović, Director of Phytonet Serbia, emphasized the company’s commitment to strategic partnerships with leading academic institutions such as the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGI), the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS), and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. He highlighted Serbia’s strong scientific potential, noting that its research institutions and experts are well-equipped to compete internationally.

One of the most notable outcomes of this collaboration is CandBerrol, an innovative dietary supplement developed in partnership with IMGGI. Katarina Savić Jončić, Phytonet’s Development Manager, played a key role in its development. CandBerrol is a natural dietary supplement based on Maqui Berry extract, designed to help prevent and manage Candida infections.

What makes CandBerrol unique is its innovative mechanism of action—it prevents naturally occurring Candida from transforming into its aggressive form, reducing the risk of infection and protecting the oral mucosa.
